THE ISLAND OF ELBA - PORTO AZZURRO
REGISTRATION RULES
-
A course must
have a minimum of 8 students enrolled, courses with fewer than 8 students
will be cancelled.
-
Students who
have never studied Italian must enroll in a beginner’s Italian course.
Students who have already studied some Italian will take a placement test
during the orientation session to determine their level of instruction and
will be placed in the suitable Italian course.

APT reserves
the right to withhold transcripts of students who violate contracts or leave
debts (housing or academic).

Attendance is
mandatory. Students are excused only for medical reasons and only upon
presentation of a medical certificate.
An
excess of unexcused absences (25% or more of the hours of the course) will
automatically fail the student.

In
case of an emergency (serious illness or death in the family) students will
be excused from classes for one week.
STUDY VISAS &
INSURANCE
European Union students do not need visas to study in Italy or to visit any
Schengen area countries.
Fifteen countries make up the Schengen area: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria,
Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg,
Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Rumenia, Spain, Sweden.
Citizens from countries outside this area, REQUIRE visas when visiting Schengen
area countries for tourism, study or business stays of 90 days or more.
After receiving the visa, visitors must appear before the local police authority
in order to receive the "Residency Permit" (Permesso di Soggiorno), within
eight days from their arrival in Italy.
Visa
applications must be compiled in person at this Consular Office.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
-
Consult the current Academic calendar and Course schedule. Choose the
session and the courses you wish to attend.
Complete the Registration Form and the Advisor Approval Form and send them
together with the $100 application fee to:

Please remember that an additional $100 house application fee is required for
the accommodation.
Upon
receipt of the deposit and the registration/housing and advisor approval forms,
the secretary will confirm your registration, course selection, housing
confirmation and will send an Enrolment Certificate in order for you to obtain
the study visa.
Tuition fees must be paid by the due date stated in your Enrolment Certificate.
Upon arrival, students are requested to submit 2 recent passport photos,
for school ID.
REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
A
portion of the program costs are non refundable.
$ 200.- for Summer Session
-
The remainder of the program cost is fully refundable 46 days or more before
orientation day.
-
Students who cancel less than 45 days before orientation will lose the
following:
CANCELLATION 30-46 days prior to orientation: 10% of amount remaining.
CANCELLATION 08-29 days prior to orientation: 50% of
amount remaining.
CANCELLATION 0-7 days prior to orientation: 100% of
amount remaining.
Special 4-Week Combined Program:
if you want you can also stay 2 weeks in
the Elba Island and 2 weeks in
Florence.
