Telephone Correspondence:  From the telephone at APT, students can receive incoming calls free of charge.  In order to telephone internationally, for example to the United States, or locally (within Italy) you can easily purchase phone cards at the nearby stores. We suggest the following:

A) Italian Phone Card (scheda telefonica) which come in 5 and 10 Euro denominations, 2 hours and 4 hours respectively for local calls (within Italy) OR International Calling Card (carta telefonica internazionale) which also come in 5 and 10 Euro denominations, minutes depend on where you are calling. Ask the vendor for the best card for your desired country.
B) In the United States, it is possible to purchase a quad-band cellular phone, which operates all around the world.
C) In Italy, students can purchase phones, starting at 60 Euro, which use TIM or SIM cards. (No monthly contract is required.) These cards are best purchased in larger increments of 25 or 50 Euro (since each recharge includes a 5 Euro fee), but  are also available also for 10 Euro. These cards are placed directly into the phone, and you can track your remaining balance after each call. Unlike in the US, there is NO CHARGE for incoming calls.
D) At APT, students can borrow phones at no cost; however, there are limited phones. Usage of these phones is provided on a first come, first served basis. In order to operate the phone, students must purchase a SIM or a TIM card. SEE ABOVE.
